Some news from Paxton Pits, if you're visiting in the next few weeks:
1. Work starts on a major extension to the Visitor Centre at the Pits on 21st January. Construction will take about three months, and there will be less room for parking, not least because there will be a temporary visitor facility and toilets in the car park.

2. From 14th January, the road between St Neots and Little Paxton will be closed owing to demolition of the old mill next to Paxton Lock (home of the last proper house martin colony in the village, sadly). Pedestrians and cyclists can still cross the river, but drivers coming from the east will have to use the by-pass and come up the A1. According to the signs, this could last up to a month.(Julian Hughes)
